Char Kway Teow

At last, I have gotten around to making a char kway teow for myself.  Set out  under an oil painting from Singapore of the Malacca coast with orchids about to bloom on the table - our new Penang corner in the kitchen.  Prawn crackers too.

Parking up,

we took a stroll up the hill

to view the Beacons,

and further round to the west, the Black mountain at the other end of the National Park

We were not alone.

Snow in Hengoed.

Snow started to fall quite heavily in the late evening,

 making our neighbour Ron's bungalow look very cosy.

The planters started to fill up.

 An early rise to catch the sun up,

well rewarded.

Pretty in full sun too.

Would you Believe It?

My model of a Singapore shophouse has been used at the entrance to the new Peranakan Gallery at new Terminal 4 at Changi airport.  Chuffed am I or what!!!

Thank you Alice and Rebecca for giving me the opportunity to visit my beloved Tuscany again.  And, of course, special thanks to Alice for, yet again, bringing the sunshine with her.

Milan Monumentale

This was not a place on itinerary during our Feb visit to Milan, a cemetary.

But once inside, it could have been something completely different.

Then again, perhaps not.

Cremona

Sadly we had eventually to leave Tuscany. On the way back to Milan, we called in for lunch in Cremona, arriving as the Sunday market was departing.

Another fathomless statue.

But, of course, Cremona is associated with a very famous family from the 17th and 18th centuries., Stradivarius.

Lerici

The main square by the harbour.

But we are off to the castle, around the corner.

Me and my three lovely fellow travelers.

But not to go into the castle, you understand, but to go under it.

Through a tunnel in the rock.

To a secret restaurant with a sea view.  Another love spot of mine.  I don't mind sharing my secrets.

I Had a House in Tuscany

Yes I did, No. 1 Fontanedo.

The new owner  has done good work on the garden.

A view once very much appreciated.

Much of the hamlet still derelict with only three, may be four, houses inhabited.

By a complete stroke of genius by Dorothy, our newly recruited sat nav expert, we were delivered to the quieter back gate to the town.

First, lunch.

My favourite Ristorante was closed this day, damn it..  And a I was so looking forward to meeting the two Etruscan waitresses again.

And the art. The tree of life, olive, of course. Lots of alabaster, a major source for thousands of years. No grotesque quarrying as behind Cararra, alabaster is mined, with no sign of landscape scares around.

Gek above the theatre.  No good picture of the arena.  The sun wasn't playing ball to day.

Florence - Mike's Square.

Walking up the hill to Michelangelo's Plaza, would you Adam and Eve it, a lady from Japan painting water colours in miniature.  I did buy a couple, ok, four.

On our first visit to Florence in 2001, we stayed in the apartment with the two open windows.

What is going on here, no idea but for sure pretty violent.
