Penarth

The stunning effect of sun on sea and clouds.

A stroll down the hill

towards the pier.

A view down the channel, Flat Holms with Steep Holm behind.

Got to get the best image, if at first you don't succeed.....etc.

The dog walker.

Sirhowy Park Revisited.

On this, our fourth visit to the park, we took the river walk. Tymbarlwm again, also known locally as The Nipple because of the mount on its summit.

Just checking where the river is. 😀

Great place for a picnic.

The Web, but not as you know it Jim.

Now, how did a tiny spider do this, anchor his/her web to the bush and the fence some 5 ft away and not with one but with three 'ropes'?

And here she is, the master builder. What a talent.

Mackintosh Willow Tearoom Clock

Perhaps one day the orginal clock face will be miniaturised.

Goytre Wharf

The visit started with lunch at Penelope's Cafe.

before setting off on our amble.

This is bridge number 71 of the 167 between Newport on the coast and Brecon in the Beacon National Park.

This section of the canal was built between 1796 and 1812 and follows the contour of the land wherever possible making it very curvy. The path, a tow path, was used by horses pulling the barges.

Boat parking space.

Navigating a bridge is a skill leant very quickly.

Gorgeous.

Sirhowy Country Park

Parked the car and crossed the river,

under the old railway line,

to climb the hill.

and what a climb.  Fortunately in dappled shade,

for a view of Twmbarlwm.
