This Is The Week That Is

Yesterday we delivered Gek's paintings to the Llandough Hospital for the exhibition opening next week and today we got the go ahead for our purchase of  the Bridgeman Court apartment from Lynda of the WWHA, the freeholder of the property. 

The pier is practically on our doorstep.

All Ready To Go

Thirteen paintings ready to be delivered for Gek's  exhibition at the  The Plaza, Llandough Hospital for the opening on the 25th July.

On the Move

With the move to Penarth looking like a goer, the Black and White is now packed ready for its journey home, to a family in Singapore. Started on the Little Red Dot, worked on in Penang and finished in Wales it never once needed a visa.

Unfortunately there was repair work being done where Wilson actualy stood for this image, No Access.

Ludlow

The town has more than 400 listed builds,

Here is a good example, giving a joined up history of architecture.

Shrewbury

Once the sites revisited, time now to explore. First a short river cruise on the Severn.

A walk in the park after lunch,

before searching for the visiting Dali sculptures. Homage to Terpsichore.

Charles Darwin was born and educated here  His statue is set in front of the library where he escaped to from school, which he hated. That rings a bell.

Dali's Surrealist Piano setup in front of the castle with two artillery pieces for company and directly opposite Charles, made the whole place feel surreal.

Much Wenlock

Completing Wilson's 1939 Trip Revist

The last bit to cover is from Craven Arms to Bridgenorth, where granddad caught a train back to Bolton.  A stop on the way to Oreton at Berrington Hall for lunch.

Rhymney Valley's New Trains.

In June five years ago, I blogged that we were going to get new trains up our valley. 

We did get some refurbished, secondhand replacements soon after,

but today we had our first ride on brand spanking new rolling stock. Super.

On the Move Again

Bridgeman Court, Penarth, a retirement property is set to be our next address.  The apartment we are currently in the process of buying is circled in the photo.

Gek's Llandough Hospital Art Exhibition

A kind of Magic

The exhibition, 'Let the Light Shine' from the 27th July to 4th September, is part to the Cardiff and Vale Health Charity art program. Its aim is to improve the health and well being of staff and patients with art.

Garden Work

After the high winds over the last week, the roses need securing a little more securely.

The ash trees this spring have really benefited from the heavy pruning I gave them last autumn.  Perhaps too much cutting done, very dense foliage they have, shadowing the roses. So a mega cut back needed with the lopper.

Sturt's Desert Pea

Named after the batonanist charles Sturt, it is the flower emblem of South Austrailia.

A Galah.  This is taking some time. 10+ hours of stitching so far.
