Rhode Island Easy Chair

The beta version of the Rhode chair. Working with wood is fine, soft material ---- not so fine. Still trying to fathom out what to cut when to get the upholstery right.

Peas Galore.

After a week of 5 minutes per day 'self' watering whilst we have been away, the peas thrived.

Peas on the menu every day now for a while to come.

Shelled and ready for the pot.

Penarth Quilters

Well to see Miss Davies and her Japanese creations

on our way home from the Gower break. A surprise was this miniature box display with Gek's painting centre stage. Miss D is into Dollhouses too.

Oxwich

A good climb to the headland through a bit of jungle.

A dull day today. Port Eynon through the haze.

But we did make it to the end, for a footie to take.

On the way back, the town's castle. It is a sort of castle that morphed into a Tutor Fortified Manor House, sort of.  In any case, this brings my castle count up to 15. Only 380++++ more to visit.

Oystermouth

Back to hustle and bustle after a few days of peace and quiet.

The towns castle.

Three Cliffs Bay

Could that be yet another castle up there?

 Pennard, it is

The beach almost to ourselves.

Rhosili, the Return

This time to climb the Down.

200 or so meters above the  swimmers.

The National Trust's Rectory below the view towards Tenby.

Turn round and look north east towards the Beacon Beacons on the far horizon, 40 miles away.  This was for definite our lucky day.

Port Eynon

Atop the cliffs.

 Did that picture take?

 Posed.

"Have you taken it yet?"

And on to the Gower

On the first day, to Worms Head to see the Vile, a National Trust 'reclamation' of the medieval strip farming field system.

So many varieties of wild flowers, with the worms head poking above them all.

Leaving the fields for the cliffs,

 with paved shores.

The tide being out, ant like people walk the causeway.

 Cliff top vegetation,

with some inspiration for Gek's own 'wild' garden patch.

Cute, or what they are.

A Week Away

But not that far away.  First stop, Porthcawl, for lunch,

followed by a scroll along the front,

for a while to sit a bench and stare.

A Vineyard in Wales?

Well, yes.  A spot of lunch before an amble among the vines.

Sugar Loaf as a backdrop from which the vineyard gets its name.

A nice find for future visits,

to buy their wine which we both quite like.

Must be at Full Bloom Now

Practically every thing is now in bloom. Potatoes, strawberries being harvested and peas well on the way to being. Note for next years..

Book - Beneath Another Sky

Norman's travels to far away places new to him, a great mixture of travel tales and deep history of the places visited, history being his thing.  4 on the door for another sky.
