This is a difficult post to do. A lot to photographs. To be quite honest, I got “Palaced Off”. So the first of two posts. The structure in the middle, more or less, is under raps.
And the detail of the restoration is amazing. This level of complexity covers practically every surface, throughout the whole complex. Lavish.
Loads of shiny, smooth, red pillars,
, convenient sculptures,
But the final results are a feast for the eye. Amazing to think most of the place was burnt down only 3 months after it was officially finished in 1421. Poor old Emperor Zhu Di was distraught. No lightening conductors fitted then you see. Now they are everywhere, even over the little dragons on the roof ridges.
